Type 2 through type 4 is a wide brief for one cream, and BSSET handles it by keeping the base hydrating rather than heavy. Jamaican black castor oil and olive oil do the conditioning, and the texture is loose enough to spread through a wave without dragging it flat.

Applied generously it gives dry curls real moisture and holds a defined pattern from root to tip. The finish is soft and shiny rather than set, so you can break the cast without frizz taking over.

  • Wash and condition, and leave the hair damp
  • Work a generous amount through section by section
  • Scrunch upwards to encourage the curls to form
  • Air dry, or diffuse on low heat
  • Scrunch gently once dry to soften the finish

The 250ml bottle is the Original Collection formula, which is the plainest thing in the BSSET range and the one to reach for if you want moisture first and hold second.

Application tips

Wring the hair out before you start. This wants damp rather than soaking, or it dilutes and slides off.

Work it through in four sections, raking with the fingers and then smoothing down each length. Scrunch upward if you want volume, shingle if you want definition. Air dry or diffuse. On type 2 waves use half what you would on coils, or it will sit heavy.

Results

Softness arrives fast and stays, with the curl pattern reading fuller from root to tip.

The finish is touchable rather than crisp, so there is no cast to break out, and frizz sits down along the length. It works alone on looser textures and as a base under a gel for coils that want more hold.

Composition

Jamaican Black Castor Oil
Adds weight and richness to coils that dry out fast
Olive Oil
Softens the strand and takes the roughness off frizz-prone lengths
