Position in a routine matters as much as the formula does. This mask is the deep conditioning step of the As I Am Bond system, and it goes in after cleansing and before leave-in care. Used in that slot it works. Used as a leave-in, it is the wrong tool.

The formula pairs As I Am's Bond Complex Technology with ceramides, amla and moringa, and there is castor seed oil in the full ingredient list. The ceramides are the ones to notice. They are lipids that belong in the hair's own structure, so replacing them counts as repair in a fairly literal sense.

Amla and moringa sit alongside them on the conditioning side, and the castor seed oil gives the mask its weight. Between them the formula is rich enough for hair that has genuinely been through something, without being so heavy that a looser texture disappears under it.

It is a rinse-out treatment for damaged, dry and breakage-prone hair. Apply generously once you have cleansed and conditioned, leave it at least five minutes, rinse thoroughly, then follow with the As I Am Bond Leave-In Conditioner.

227 g, and heavy enough that a little goes further than it looks.

Application tips

Cleanse, squeeze out, then apply in sections from the ends upward. Rake it through with your fingers until every strand feels coated, and pay attention to the nape, which is where most people skip.

Cover the hair and leave it. Warmth speeds it along if you have a cap. Rinse thoroughly, cool water at the end, then move to your leave-in while the hair is still wet.

Results

Plumped rather than slick, which is the gap between a mask and a heavy conditioner.

There is weight and softness in the hair, and dry, brittle lengths stop rasping against each other. Elasticity is what matters on breakage prone hair, and strands stretch and return instead of parting under a comb.

More of your length survives the week. Definition improves as a side effect, because hydrated hair clumps where dehydrated hair frizzes.
