What that buys you in practice is repeat colouring without cumulative damage. Direct dyes can be reapplied often, and because there is no developer involved the hair keeps its condition through the process. Adore's shades come out close to the chart, which is not a given with semi-permanents, and the finish is glossy rather than matte.
Fade is the part people underestimate. Semi-permanent colour lifts out over washes, and this one fades reasonably evenly, so what you get is a softening of tone rather than patchy roots and brassy ends.

Application tips
Squeeze what you need into a bowl rather than pouring straight from the bottle, so nothing gets contaminated and the rest keeps. A tint brush gives cleaner roots than fingers do. Twenty to thirty minutes covers most shades, and warmth from a cap speeds it up. Rinse without shampoo, then leave the first proper wash a couple of days so the colour settles.
Results
Pigment goes on strong and holds its brightness through the first few washes. As it does drop, it drops uniformly, so there is no band where the last application stopped.
Hair feels smoother afterwards rather than roughed up, since a direct dye coats the outside instead of prising the cuticle open. Frequent shade changes cost the hair much less this way.
