Founded by chemist Carmen Ferreira-Roberts in Atlanta, Ecoslay is the small-batch, vegan, plant-based curl-care line that's earned cult status across natural-hair communities. Every formula is hand-mixed in small batches with food-grade botanical ingredients. Ecoslay Matcha Boost is a deep-conditioning treatment from the brand — stocked at Zenvy Beauty UK with free delivery over £40 and next-working-day shipping if you order before 2pm.

What it does

A weekly deep treatment — penetrates the cuticle to repair damage, restore moisture, and reset the hair's overall condition.

Hair type

Best for type 2C through 4C textures. The brand formulates broadly across the curl spectrum — adjust application amount based on density and porosity. Wavy and looser-curl users should start with smaller amounts to avoid weigh-down.

Ingredients (full INCI)

water, Ceteryl alcohol, Colza oil, hydrolyzed quinoa protein, hydrolyzed keratin protein, Matcha extract, Propanediol, Hp starch, Caprylhydroxamic acid gg. About The Ingredients - Matcha Boost Colza Oil • Colza oil permeates the base of the hair, increasing moisturization and smoothness. • • Colza oil is loaded in vitamin E, a natural antioxidant, supporting a healthy scalp and helping to maintain hair growth. • Hydrolyzed Quinoa Protein • Considered the Mother Grain of the ancient Incas, Quinoa (pronounced keen-WAH) is a natural protein for hair color retention, conditioning, and protection. • • Quinoa is considered a complete protein, containing seventeen amino acids, including all eight essential amino acids. With the combination of cationic and anionic amino acids, hydrolyzed quinoa penetrate into the hair shaft to create a scaffold around the hair to protect the strands and hair color. • Hydrolyzed Keratin Protein • Vegan Keratin alternative sourced from Wheat and Soy • • Penetrates the hair shaft to replace missing keratin in microscopic gaps along the hair shaft, resulting in smooth and shiny hair. • • Rebuilds the hair’s natural protective layer, making it stronger and more elastic while reducing hair breakage and splitting. • • Increases the diameter of hair fibers, giving a fuller appearance to fine and thin hair. • • Increases the hair’s ability to retain moisture and reduces frizz and flyaways caused by dryness. • Matcha Extract • Matcha contains epigallocatechin-3-gallat, or EGCG, which promotes growth of hair follicles and stimulates the human dermal papilla cells to boost hair production. • • The caffeine contained in Matcha helps to reduce shedding • Propanediol • Propanediol is a corn-derived preservative booster • HP Starch • HP Starch is a corn-derived thickener • Caprylhydroxamic GG • Caprylhydroxamic acid is a naturally-derived preservative - it's an amino acid (organic compounds that are essential building blocks of life) derived from coconut oil

Frequently asked

How often should I use this mask?

Most curlies use a deep conditioning mask weekly — replacing the regular rinse-out conditioner on one wash day. Twice a week is fine for very high-porosity or damaged hair; daily is too much.

How long should I leave it on?

Minimum 15 minutes. Up to 30 minutes for very dry or damaged hair. Use under a heat cap, plastic cap, or simply with body heat — heat opens the cuticle for deeper penetration.

Can I leave it overnight?

Most curlies don't need to — a 30-minute treatment under heat reaches the same level of penetration. Overnight masking is fine if your hair tolerates it; some textures find it leaves residue.

Does it replace my regular conditioner?

Yes — on the day you mask, skip the regular rinse-out. The mask does the conditioning step. Continue with leave-in and styler as normal.
