Editorial Policy

This Editorial Policy explains how the content on zenvy-beauty.com is created, fact-checked, and updated. It covers our blog (the journal), product descriptions, collection pages, and the AI Hair Analyser result page.

What we publish

Our editorial covers four areas:

  • Education — curl pattern guides, porosity, routine breakdowns
  • Tutorials — wash days, the LOC method, heatless curls, refresh techniques
  • Brand and product guides — what each brand does well, who it's for, our take
  • Round-ups — best-of articles for specific concerns or product types

Who writes the content

Content is written by Zenvy staff and a small pool of vetted freelance writers. All editorial is reviewed before publication by someone with personal experience of the relevant texture or subject matter. Where the writer doesn't have that texture, the article is paired with a contributor who does — and that's stated at the bottom of the piece.

Fact-checking

For every editorial piece we publish:

  • Product claims are verified against the manufacturer's published ingredient list, instructions, and product page
  • Volume / pricing data is checked against current UK retail at time of writing
  • Curl-typing references use the Andre Walker system (the most widely-cited classification in the field)
  • Scientific claims about hair structure (porosity, cuticle behaviour, protein bonds) are sourced from peer-reviewed cosmetic-chemistry literature where available

AI use disclosure

Some of our content is drafted with AI assistance — most commonly, first-draft outlines and routine breakdowns. Every AI-drafted piece is reviewed and substantively edited by a human before publication. We don't publish AI text directly without review.

The AI Hair Analyser uses Anthropic's Claude vision model to read curl patterns from photos. The model identifies pattern, porosity, and visible concerns; the product recommendations are deterministic logic written by us, not AI. The analyser's confidence score and limitations are disclosed on the result page.

Sponsored content and brand collaborations

If a piece of content is sponsored, paid, or written as part of a brand collaboration, that fact is stated at the top of the article in a clear "Sponsored / Paid partnership" banner — not buried in fine print. We don't currently accept paid placements in our editorial, but if we do in future, this is the standard we'll hold to.

Affiliate links

We don't currently use affiliate links. All product links on Zenvy point to products we sell directly. If we add affiliate relationships in future (e.g. for products we don't stock but want to recommend), the relationship will be disclosed inline next to the link.

Corrections and updates

If we get something wrong, we correct it. Significant corrections (factually inaccurate claims, incorrect ingredient information, changed product specs) are noted with a dated "Updated" line at the bottom of the article. We don't silently edit published pieces.

Round-up and best-of articles are reviewed every 6 months and updated when the underlying recommendation changes. The "as of" date is shown on every round-up.
